Perhaps you have a good job, one that pays well, a job that anyone would be proud to call their own. But deep down, you hear that inner voice telling you “you’re not supposed to be here”.
What do you do when you hear it? Ignore it? Most people would, what sane person wants to even think about being unemployed in this climate.
So you ignore it. But, the feelings get stronger. When you hear the news that your friend just sold his first piece of art, you’re happy for him, of course you are, but it’s times like this that make you realise just how unfulfilled you are.
You were going to do incredible things too. Except now you’re not. But you drive a nice car, right? And you’ve got a great pension? A small price to pay for giving up your dreams…
This doesn’t have to be an either/or situation. You do not have to quit your job to start following your calling. In fact you absolutely should not.
Did you know that studies have found that it only takes around 20 hours to learn a new skill? That’s an hour a night for less than a month.
So how do you find your calling?
I want you to think back to when you were a little kid playing with toys and making up games. What games or toys were your favourite?
Did you love to perform and play dress up? Maybe you spent hours taking things apart and putting them back together?
What did you do with your time when nobody else made a claim on it? Once you figure this out, you’ll have your answer.
What do you for fun today that seems to make time disappear? You know, maybe you sit down to paint for the first time in 6 months and suddenly it’s dark outside and you’re wondering where on earth the time has gone. Once you figure this out, you’ll find your calling.
