Review & Giveaway: Simplehuman 10x Magnification Sensor Mirror
This is an absolutely amazing Simplehuman sensor mirror that lights up automatically. Its tru-lux light system simulates natural sunlight, allowing you to see full colour variation, so you’ll know when your makeup is colour-correct and flawless. And unlike traditional bulbs, the long-lasting LEDs won’t burn out or diminish. The magnification sensor mirror folds down flat and stores easily in its travel case. Plus it recharges with a standard USB port (cable included), and I find that one charge lasts about 5 weeks. The 10x magnification is ideal for close-up work like tweezing or applying eye makeup.
I have one of the regular Simplehuman sensor mirrors that I use for my daily makeup that I just love, so I also have this mini one for travel. The operative word is mini: it’s not large enough to show your entire face, but it magnifies better than the larger mirror which gives terrific detail for eye makeup application. It folds flat and has a compact travel case to keep it safe. It’s wonderful that it is space saving, ergonomic and illuminates the face so that make-up application is flawless (well, as good as I can achieve anyway). Because it is charged via USB it is cordless in use and can thus go anywhere.
A semi-hard case is provided so you can even take it on your travels with minimal risk of 7 years of bad luck; the mirror and stand fold together making it a real space-saver.
There is an on/off switch at the back and the mirror automatically illuminates as it senses your proximity – and off again a few seconds after you move away; and on again, off again, you get the picture. As such, the charge lasts a really long time. Although you cannot see your entire face in one go, it isn’t a hardship to move about and the clarity is such that this isn’t an issue when checking make-up. I really do love it.
Another feature is that the light is adjustable via the app and can be switched off when not needed. I travel a lot for work and no matter if the hotel is a Hilton or a B&B the lighting is always terrible for applying makeup. This magnification sensor mirror really works. The light is so bright that you can use it in a darkened room. No more trying to balance a mirror on the window sill. It is well made and the case is sturdy. Its a little bigger than I imagined it would be, but that is a good thing. I have been using it for a few weeks with no issues at all. It takes up very little room on the bathroom counter. Not only do I use the mirror every day but when I travel I place it in the case and we are good to go.
It’s nice to have a mirror that as soon as you’re near it the light comes on so quickly and when you’re done and walk away it goes off.
The mirror is beautifully designed, oozes quality and does it’s job perfectly. The ‘daylight’ lighting makes applying my make up an easy task ensuring I don’t look ‘over done up’ when I venture out, not a good look on anyone.
The light stays charged for a surprisingly long time, I’d been using mine for over five weeks before I had to charge it for the first time. My one suggestion to Simple Human is to add the ability to extend the height for those that would want a taller magnification sensor mirror. Overall its an excellent product that I would wholly recommend.
