If you are just getting started, you may be wondering, what is digital scrapbooking?
Digital scrapbooking firstly allows you to digitally enhance and change your photos before presenting them on a digital scrapbook layout. Of course, you have always been able to remove red-eye, crop photos and change contrast with basic software. But good digital photo software allows you to change colouring completely to say sepia or black and white. This allows you to get many different effects from just one photo.
You can also add embellishments, text and graphics to your pictures without having to go anywhere near your paper trimmer or photo splits. This makes it very simple and incredibly cost-effective to produce a layout.
Why Digital Scrapbooking was the perfect solution for me:
- No more giant case of stuff to carry around. All I need is my laptop!
- It’s portable. I can do it anywhere, and I do!
- It’s super quick and easy!
You can take old photos that do not look their best and digitally restore them on your own without having to take them to a specialist. You can even remove an unwanted background or foreground. In the past, these sorts of things could only be done by photo restoration experts, but now anyone can do a pretty good job at home. Digital scrapbooking also makes it even easier to share your layouts with friends and family worldwide!
Now, not only do I love creating photo books and scrapbook design books but to my surprise, looking at the books that I created became one of my child’s favourite pastimes too. I have found the most important part of it all is that our family cherishes each other and values the quality time that we spend together. We are so well connected to each other, and I see my child often reflecting on all the blessings in our lives. We have a stack of digital scrapbooks that I have created over the years, and we all look at them often.
One year I created a huge scrapbook of the whole year. It is a beautiful book filled with love and stunning scrapbook designs, but I will say that it took me a very long time to finish. It is a treasure to my family. But, honestly, I have not created a yearbook since. I found that it became another mountain in my life. I have learned that creating smaller books from vacations or special events is much easier and more attainable. And it feels lovely to do a quick and easy book and have it printed and back in my hands right away. It is a great accomplishment and gives me the desire to do more.
Here’s what I love about digital scrapbooking:
- Digital Scrapbooking saves time – you can build a complete digital scrap page in a few minutes rather than a few hours and no running to the craft store because you can shop right from your computer.
- Digital Scrapbooking saves money – you can reuse your supplies over and over!
- Digital Scrapbooking has less mess…much less! No cutting or glueing and no cleanup.
So, you can see that I have finally found my solution to scrapbooking our family memories.
Lovely idea for keeping memories safe & easy to access! xxx
I have lots of lovely digital embellishments and fonts / alphabets from when I did digital scrapbooking. I must get back into it! I don’t take as many photos now my girls are older but I really should as time flies
What a great idea!
