World’s First Intermittent Fasting Programme Based on DNA Results

Wow, have we got a treat for you today. The wonderful people over at The What-If Plan are offering our readers the chance to win a What IF Plan of their very own.

The What If Plan is the world’s first Intermittent Fasting weight management programme based on one’s DNA results of weight management genes most associated with weight loss (carb sensitivity, fat sensitivity, response to gluten, lactose, caffeine, alcohol, if one is a snacker or not, sugar preference, response to exercise and many more variants). Worth £299!

The bespoke DNA test looks at 31 weight management genes most associated with weight loss. Once an individual’s results have been analysed, a 53-page report is created, which details their results, how the three Phases of the plan work (two phases are different scientifically-proven intermittent fasting protocols and the third phase, the “easy phase”, is eating three meals and an optional snack daily, from your DNA Food List). The report also contains a food list and 20 pages of straightforward and quick recipes.

The What IF Plan clients from the UK, Europe, the U.S, India and the Middle East all find success on this plan and feedback has been that it is “effortless” and “straightforward”!

Kate Llewellyn-Waters, who created the plan, has an MSc. in Nutrition, where she concentrated for three years on Intermittent Fasting research and began to develop The What IF Plan back in 2014. She has also spent four years working solely in the Nutrigenomics and Nutrigenetics field. The Evening Standard has already jumped on the bandwagon and reviewed the plan, and it has had a mention from Poldark actress Eleanor Tomlinson!

So here are a few fab facts about Intermittent Fasting and eating a genetically appropriate diet.

Over a 12 month period, those on a Genotype Appropriate Diet lost a whopping 287% more weight on a genetically appropriate diet than those not on a genetically appropriate diet.
-Short-term fasting increases your metabolic rate by 3.6-14%, helping you burn even more calories!
– According to a review of scientific literature in 2014, intermittent fasting can cause weight loss of 3-8% over 3-24 weeks. This is a significant amount. The people also lost 4-7% of their waist circumference, which indicates that they lost lots of stomach fat, the harmful fat in the abdominal cavity that causes disease.
– In human studies on intermittent fasting, fasting blood sugar has been reduced by 3-6%. While fasting insulin has been reduced by 20-31% – this is a massive decrease!
– Although human studies are required. Data from animal studies indicate that intermittent fasting may help prevent cancer. There is also some evidence on human cancer patients, showing that fasting reduced various side effects of chemotherapy.

-In a series of case reports, a lifestyle intervention that included daily short-term fasts was able to significantly improve Alzheimer’s symptoms in 9 out of 10 patients!
