This is a lovely Christmas recipe to make with children, as it requires very little effort for maximum tasty results. I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone that doesn’t like these, I mean, what’s not to like? They’re perfect for wrapping up in cellophane, tying with a bow and giving out as little homemade Christmas gifts. They’d also be right at home in a homemade Christmas hamper or Christmas Eve Box.
Ingredients
250g Icing sugar
1 Beaten Egg White
A few drops of Strawberry Essence
A bar of melted chocolate
Method
Sieve the icing sugar into a large bowl. Mix in the egg white a little at a time and stop adding it when you have a soft dough.
Add 3 drops of the strawberry essence, mix well and taste to see if it’s strawberry enough for you.
Drop teaspoons of the mixture, about the size of a cherries, on to baking parchment paper on a large board or tray
Leave the them to dry for about 3-4 hrs, or overnight.
Melt some chocolate in the microwave, very slowly, and dunk them in.
Leave to harden and enjoy!
They’re best when eaten up within 1 month.
