Review & Giveaway: Lumie Bodyclock Starter 30 Alarm Clock

Review & Giveaway: Lumie Bodyclock Starter 30 Alarm Clock

I am not a morning person, and usually can’t wake up whilst it’s still dark. I can sleep through any alarm tone no matter how loud or harsh. I’ve had this Lumie Bodyclock alarm for a little over a month at this point, and have not slept through it once. It allows me to wake up naturally and stress free. I only use the sunrise function, but there is an alarm tone as well.

On the rare occasions my husband forgets to set the sunrise, it’s impossible to get out of bed, I never knew having something like this would make dragging myself out of my bed easier! Don’t get me wrong, I am not bounding out of bed – but with the sunrise function of the clock it does make it more acceptable. We also use it as a bedside light but it’s not really bright enough to read by.

If you’re not really a morning person, the Lumie Bodyclock Starter daylight lamp is just what you need.

It’s an alarm clock that wakes you with a gradually brightening 30-minute sunrise so when you open your eyes you feel awake and refreshed. Waking up like this helps to regulate your sleep/wake cycle and has even been shown to boost mood, energy and productivity levels for the rest of the day.

It did take a little while to get used to this, but now I find waking much easier. But waking up in a fully lit room makes it feel like you should be getting up. My body clock feels like it is getting used to a new way of sleeping. Also the Sunset mode helps me drift off much better. Less tossing and turning, I can’t remember the last time I didn’t get any sleep and that used to happen at least once a week.

In the summer I am great at getting up but I started to notice that during the darker mornings, not only was I struggling to wake up but my mood was really low throughout the day. I cannot tell you enough how much this clock has helped me. I will also add that the light does get quite warm so I wouldn’t really put it in a child’s room within reach.

As well as the wake up sunrise, it also has a 30 minute sunset that works in the opposite way, helping you to naturally wind down ready for bed. There’s a snooze feature and an optional alarm beep, which most people turn off after a few days, preferring to wake up to the light on its own. It can also be used as a dimmable bedside light. This is a fantastic light for anyone who suffers from SAD.

A worthwhile investment for anyone who struggles to get through the winter mornings in the UK!

A wake up light like Lumie Bodyclock Starter is not only a much nicer way to start the day – especially on dark, winter mornings – it can help beat the winter blues and is a useful complement to a lightbox in treating SAD (seasonal affective disorder).

Main features:

• 30 minute sunrise and sunset
• Optional alarm beep
• Snooze
• Fully dimmable display
• Dimmable lighting
• Sun ray effect
• Power failure back-up

This is a Quiet Mark awarded product.

It helps to regulate your sleep/wake cycle and combat Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), with a sunrise and sunset setting; snooze function, optional alarm beep and dimmer. A great idea to make life easier. This lamp is really worth the money. It will wake you up in the winter mornings when it’s dark outside. It is really nice to wake up into the light of this lamp as it reminds you of a morning Sun. Before you open your eyes you feel as if a Sun is shining on your face!

I have to admit that I was skeptical of the Lumie concept. That it could wake you up by giving you a sunrise. I tried this starter30 model to see if it would make any difference. On paper it’s an expensive bedside light. But as the gloomy mornings of Autumn approached. I figured I’d give it a try.

The sunburst glow effect produced by the glass cover is really nice. The fade up is good. A month later, I’m still using it every day. Its not infallible. But I’m generally waking earlier, I feel it’s had a positive impact.

Would I use it every day? Yes! Would I buy Lumie again? Yes!

My only criticism, is that the 3 button user interface is over complicated. Adding more buttons would make it easier to operate. This might sound counter intuitive. But there are so many modes hidden behind those 3 buttons, that it’s fiddly to change the alarm time.
