Organised Family Life Hacks – Part 17

Planning ahead and doing a little bit at a time leaves a lot more time to enjoy yourself and just makes the general day to day running of life so much easier. You also can save money by being prepared through the year. Every Friday we’ll post a list of Organised Family Life Hacks that we’ve compiled over the years. If you have any of your own to add, please comment below. I’m really looking forward to seeing what you suggest!

  • Always put laundry in the washing machine overnight on timer. Set your bread to bake overnight in the bread machine too, so that you come down in the morning to the smell of fresh bread. There’s nothing better!

  • From about the age of 12 yrs, ask your child to be responsible for cooking one weekend lunch or supper per week. Start off helping them with simple recipes, getting gradually harder, then introduce shopping and budgeting for the meal, and by the time they get to university they should have a good repertoire of meals under their belt and the ability to shop properly.

  • Buy big pieces of fish, cut them up into smaller fillets, individually clingfilm them then pop them all in a freezer bag. Much cheaper than buying small pieces. I can take out one at a time and they cook from frozen in about ten minutes.
