You’ll Need
3-6 bags of microwaveable popcorn
A thin sewing needle,
Pretty strong type of thread (usually button hole thread is used)
A pair of scissors.
Optional Extras
Food colouring or glitter.
Method
Cut 6ft of thread, line up the end of your thread and now you’re going to make your knot and what I would suggest because we are making the garland in sections is you leave about 3 or 4 inches of thread beyond the knot so that you can use this extra length to actually tie the sections together. So you need to keep re-knotting the same knot over and over, like maybe 4 or 5 times until you feel it’s pretty big.
What I try to do is look for a piece of popcorn that has a really skinny middle part, that has a little more substance to it so that I know when I put the needle through that it’s not going to break apart too easily. But you want to just gently push it through. You don’t want to force it and you don’t want to squeeze it with the hand that you’re holding it with. This is also a really fun thing you can do with your kids because they really enjoy not only stringing the popcorn, but eating it.
